What Causes Light Spotting Between Periods?

im 25. been off the pill for about a year now. my husband was deployed and just got back in august. i eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly. weve been tryin to conceive but it hasnt happened yet. i thought i was pregnant earlier this month because i was slightly bleeding (implantation?) the the 2nd week of October (we had sex the first week of oct). the slight bleeding was on and off a few days and lasted for about 2 weeks till now, but i actually do have my period now. i normally get my period the 24th-till the end of the month...i dont understand this slight bleeding that i had for 3 weeks. Could the sex somehow alter my period?

Hi,
From the description you have given, it appears as though you had some transient hormone imbalance that could have resulted in the breakthrough bleeding observed, provided pregnancy was excluded through blood test for estimation of the serum beta-hCG titres. Please observe the next cycle and if any alteration persists, go for further evaluation. Intercourse does not alter a menstrual cycle, but, any infections, stress, certain medications and sudden weight changes do disturb the cycles. Hope this helps.
