What Causes Itching On Face, ears And Around The Jaw Bone?

For the last 5-7 years I have had this weird itching feeling that comes n goes on both sides of my face under and around the front of my ears and around the back of the jaw bone. It also itches a little in the ear. It started as a once in a while weird thing but over the years it has gotten worse and has become a daily thing. It has also gotten to feel like it's the tissue underneath as well as the skin in these area and now I have to like rub hard n scratch at the same time. Also just recently I noticed that when I eat something sweet on the right side, it's accompanied by a quick sharp pain in like the jaw muscle of that cheek. I have mentioned it to my dentist and dr. a million times but they don't really take me serious n say they have never heard of something like that. I was recently told I have lichen planis could that be what's doing it? I also have been a heavy smoker since 9th grade and I'm now 30. Any ideas what it cld be? Shld I get an X-ray?
