What Causes Ears To Block?

Have had 2 colds one after each other causing my ears to block. Have used olive oil for 2.5 weeks and just been to GP to have them syringed, however, my left ear which is completely blocked has no wax in it at all. Can I take a decongesant as I'm currently taking 20mg of Fluoxetine?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain many a times there is blockage in Eustachian tube secondary to cold due to mucous accumulation in the eustachian tubes..

It leads to blocked feeling in ears and at times might disturb the hearing too.
Many a times the ears gets unclogged gradually over the period of time as the fluid dissipates..

As it is already 2.5 weeks and still the ears are still clogged you need to get surgical drainage of the ears done to relieve the symptoms..
Although you can try a few remedies like taking decongestant nasal sprays, steam inhalations, chew a chewing gum, pinch the nostrils and close the lips and try to blow the air gently..

In case if nothing helps then surgical drainage of ears has to be done..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
