What Causes Chest Pain After Alcohol Ingestion?

Have had a few attacks in the center of my chest between where my rib cage goes together (stabbing pain for a couple seconds, then subsides). Usually occurs a day or two after I have had some alcoholic drinks. Pain is not constant, no other symptoms. I thought it might be gall bladder. Drs. ordered an abdominal scan, when radiologist put the sensor on my abdomen, she placed it on the spot where the pain occurred and told me that was where my pancreas was located. Have stopped with the alcohol. Scan results showed no problems. Following up with a Hida scan. Anything else we should be looking for? They also found an 8mm spot on my kidney which they don't seem concerned with at the present time. Will monitor in another 6 months to see if it shows up/grows, etc. I am female, age 56 and have high blood pressure, for which I take hyzaar, 100mg/12.5. once daily.

HI,welcome to Hcm,
Intake of alcohol is associated with gross disturbances in liver, pancreas and gall bladder mechanics.this pathology can be reflected as chest pain initially. An ERCP can accurately pick up gall stones if any. This can be both therapeutic and diagnostic.A ct abdomen can accurately diagnose acute pancreatitis.Drugs like proton pump inhibitors like rabeprazole can reduce the symptoms.Consult gastroenterologist for further queries.
thank you
