What Causes Bleeding Stools?

I noticed a significant amount of blood in my stool for the past two days. I'm not constipated. The blood is bright red. I'm 23 years old. I am on methadone but recently have started decreasing from the methadone. I have hemorrhoids but I've never had this amount of blood in the toilet before. I'm scared. Should I be? what could it be what should i do?
