Hi,

The sleeping tablets prescribed by the doctors may be causing fatigue and weakness in your father. Sedative medications, such as sleeping pills, can cause drowsiness, fatigue, and weakness as side effects. It is important to speak to your father's doctor about any concerns you have regarding his medication, as they may need to adjust the dosage or change the medication to alleviate these side effects.

In addition to medication, some other things may help improve your father's energy levels and overall well-being. These may include:
- Encouraging him to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids
- Making sure he is eating a healthy and balanced diet
- Encouraging light exercise or physical activity, as tolerated
Providing emotional support and companionship
- Making sure he is getting enough rest and allowing time for relaxation

It is important to speak to your father's doctor about any concerns you have regarding his health and well-being, as they can provide specific recommendations based on his individual needs and medical history.

Hi,

It is not uncommon for cancer patients to experience fatigue and weakness, especially after surgery and while undergoing treatment like radiotherapy. It's possible that the sleeping tablets could be contributing to your father's increased sleepiness and weakness, as some medications can have side effects that affect energy levels and cognitive function.

It's important to discuss any concerns you have with your father's doctor, as they can provide more personalized advice based on his medical history and current condition. They may be able to adjust the dosage or timing of his medication or recommend alternative treatments to manage his symptoms.

In addition to medical care, there are other ways to support your father's overall health and well-being during this difficult time. Encouraging him to eat a balanced and nutritious diet, stay hydrated, and engage in light exercise or activity as tolerated can all help to improve energy levels and overall mood.

Providing emotional support and being present for him during appointments and treatments can also make a difference. It's important to take care of yourself as well, as being a caregiver can be challenging both physically and emotionally. Consider reaching out to support groups or seeking counseling if needed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Diwashish Biswas, Internal Medicine Specialist
