What Are The Findings From The Chest Radiographic Report?
Hi Doc. My chest PA Radiographic report has the following results:
Ill-defined opacities suspicious for infiltrates are seen in the right upper lung field, superimposed with the osseous structures. The heart is normal in size and configuration. The diaphragm and costophrenic sulci are intact. Other visualized structures are unremarkable. Suggest apicolordotic view for further evaluation.
1. What does the first statement mean? 2. What possible disease or diseases are associated with the upper lung field if I undergo an apicolordotic view test? Would this cause for alarm?
the right sided upper lung field infiltrates suggest that there is a possible infection in the right lung in its upper zone. however the infiltrates cannot be seen nicely because there is bony tissue there which is not allowing a good visualization and therefore an additional x ray has been advised.
this could mean that there is an infection going on, and the infective organism could be any especially a fungus or a bacteria, especially tuberculosis in areas where it is prevalent
now the xray report definitely suggests some infection, so i would suggest that you have the test done. in my own patient i would have also advised a ct chest and a BAL test for diagnosis
I hope that helps Looking forward for your further query
