Hello and welcome,

It seems that you have a baby that is not growing well as well as less amount of fluid surrounding the baby. In addition the baby has a loop of cord around the neck. This condition is called fetal growth restriction in medical terms. In most cases these babies do not get enough oxygen and nutrients and so are not able to grow well.

In such cases the babies tend to pass meconium or poo inside the uterus. This may enter their lungs and suffocate them. This may happen during pregnancy or more commonly during labor when the blood supply to the baby decreases during uterine contractions. So chances of cesarean section are higher. The outcome depends upon the degree of growth restriction as well as amount of fluid. In your case the growth restriction is mild but the fluid is moderately low. The cord tends to entangle around the neck and cause strangulation. The cesarean rate ranges from 30-50% in cases of fetal growth restriction.

So an elective cesarean is a better option if the cord persists after 36 weeks.

Hope this satisfies your query.
