Was Constipated, Had Cramping. Why Diarrhea? What Can Help?

Not sure if this is going to work.... I was constipated for a few days. Woke up with severe cramping. Passed 2 solid BM s but still had the cramping. Then the flood gates opens and I experienced foul smelling watery diarrhea for about 2 hours. I know this is not normal. I get constipated on occasion but never had the diarrhea as an after effect. Is this just everything that was backed up escaping?

Hello, rangersfan41,
Of you were constipated for a few days, you could have retained
a lot of residual stool in your large intestine. When once the
contractions start and the contents start to move, this can
happen. This is more common if someone takes a laxative.
You have to figure out if constipation has affected your life
style. If that is the case, you need to take aggressive measures
to correct the problem. You need to increase your fiber intake
eating more whole grains, more fresh fruits, vegetables and
drinking adequate fluids.
You have to be physically active also.
I am sure you will feel much better soon.
wish you well.
