Tried Derma Treatment For Acne. Is Althea Safe To Take?

Hellow, been browsing some conversation about taking Althea pill which could help eliminate acne.I been suffering from acne since teen. Iv tried derma treatment and all but it didn't go away until i had 3 kids. I'm comtemplating to take Althea to finally get rid of this but I'm full of apprehension becoz my husband won't permit me taking any kind contraceptive pill. Is it really safe so that i can convince him?

Hi. Females have a better choice of medicines than males since they are eligible for hormonal therapy unlike males. Althea pills contains ethinyl estradiol and cyperoterone acetate. Its a contraceptive pill and it is commonly used in females with acne especially when the doctor suspects that their could be underlying hormonal abnormality e.g PCOD either clinically (obese, hirsutism, irregular menses and scalp hair thinning) and/or by lab tests or when conventional anti-acne medications don't show the desired results or acne returns quickly as soon as anti-acne medication is stopped.
I would advice that you consult a dermatologist. Your dermatologist might start you on Althea pills especially when your acne has not been responding to conventional anti acne medications. By the way you are an ideal candidate since you have already have 3 kids and i guess have completed your family? Baring minor side effects like headache, nausea in some at the start of therapy it is safe but your treating dermatologist would like to rule out any history of heart disease, seizure, high cholesterol, migrane etc

take care
