Taking Obimet SR. Irregular Periods, Heavy Bleeding. Prediabetic. Need To Stop Medication?

I am taking obimet SR 500 twice a day when my period was irregular and almost stopped three years before. When I started taking Obimet period was started, having heavy flow in a gap of almost 2 months. Now I am 51, still having periods. Is it because I am taking Obimet SR. I am prediabetic also. May advise whether I have to continue Obimet SR or take any other medicine for diabetics, if required? I am overweight too.

OBGYN 's  Response
Hi dear user, thanks for asking to us.

Periods continuing after 50 years of age are considered abnormal. It may not be because of obimet SR. In my opinion, you should get yourself investigated. I will advise you to get your blood test(complete hemogram, thyroid profile, blood sugar- fasting and preprandial),ultrasound of uterus and adnexa, pap smear and endometrial biopsy.

Hope this helps.
