Taking Cocodamol For Cervical Spondylitis. Have Constipation. Suggest

I have been taking 8/500mg cocodamol for cervical spondylitis for some 8 months and have always had trouble with constipation. I have stopped staking the tablets over the last few days and have had some bowel movement but I have some slight pain in my right side -- in line with my tummy button. I am just aware of it and I wondered if I could have some faeces impacted as I have the same thing on the upper left which has now gone. I eat a healthy diet but probably don't drink as much as I should. It doesn't hurt if I press where it hurts. I am a very active 70 year old.

Welcome to HCM.Narcotic analgesics as a class cause constipation which may lead to impacted faeces in the elderly .Use of stool softeners like Docusate, bulk forming agents like Isupgul and adequate hydration along with a diet rich in fibre and fresh vegetables and fruits will help ease the constipation.A examination by your doctor will help assess any impaction.
