Swollen Gland Near The Collar Bone, Pain In The Neck. Pain While Swallowing. Is It Due To Cold?

Noticed a swollen gland/ cyst just above my collar bone in the center about a week ago. Yesterday I started having pain on the right side of my neck . Then this morning woke up with pain swollowing, and a runny nose . Could the swollen gland be from the cold my body is fighting so should i have a doctor look at??? Is it normal to have glands swell before you notice symptoms of illness??

Hello,
Thank you for the query.
I have gone through your query and understood your concerns. In my opinion these are signs of infections and there will be enlargement of lymph nodes if there is any chance of infection so that is the thing happened in you too. I you were my patient I will advice you to take tab.amoxicillin 500mg twice a day for 3 days. As it is a prescription drug you can consult your treating doctor to confirm the diagnosis. Thank you.

General & Family Physician Dr. Ramesh M.Vachharajani's  Response
Hi,
It seems that you might be having chronic lymphadenitis and after active infection as you got it, there might be spreading infection in lymph nodes giving rise of pain in the neck and swollen nodes.
Consult your doctor.
After a course of antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medicines you will be alright.
Ok and take care.
