Suggest Treatment For Fever And Vomiting

Started 6 days ago with vomiting, nausea and low grade fever and mild body aches, has continued with diarrhea (not frequent) but watery and nausea. Have had a day or so not vomiting but agin last night x1. The vomiting would only happen 1-3 x daily. No appetite. Don t feel terribly weak and seem hydrated as I m voiding sufficient. Just continue with nausea and occasional vomiting and / diarrhea. Thought it may be Norwalk?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi there.

Thanks for writing in.

It could be viral gastroenteritis. However, the symptoms should have gotten better in 3 days.

I would advise you to take probiotics like vizylac (lactobacilli) one capsule 3 times a day for a couple of days. It will help by regaining the normal bacterial flora of the stomach, the good bacteria.
Drink ORS, keep yourself well hydrated by drinking fluids.
Take a bland diet with bread toast, rice, tender coconut water, apples etc.
Avoid oily, spicy and deep fried foods.

After following these measures for 2 days, if you are still not feeling 100 percent , get a stool routine examination and a basic blood test done.

Hope this information was helpful to you.

Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
