Suggest Treatment For Having Cut Inside The Throat

Hi-My nine year old son has been spitting up blood and vomiting blood for five weeks now. He had an upper endoscopy last week and we were told that he has a cut inside his throat that has not been able to heal because he keeps clearing his throat which is just like scratching a scab off. I was told to retrain this habit so that it can heal. My son has improved this habit tremendously, however, he is still spitting up blood (although less frequently). He also continues to vomit blood at night and now in the morning (from the draining blood going into his stomcach). Is there any advice on what else I can do to help this small cut heal faster? The blood is really upsetting his stomach :( and his throat has been hurting for the past five weeks as well.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

With 5 weeks history of spitting blood, blood in vomit and diagnosed ulcer in throat on endoscopy indicates the following:
Any wound usually heals within a week with or without treatment hence it is mandatory to see why the wound is not healing and why is the blood coming out continuously.
I would advise you the following:
* Consult an ENT surgeon as he is most experienced in such cases
* Get the coagulation profile as some bleeding or clotting disorder can present in similar ways
* Repeat endoscopy and have biopsy if lymphoma like thing is suspected
* A proper diagnosis of the basic cause alone can help to get a cure.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
