Hello, and I hope I can help you today.

Your story of what happened so far with your pregnancy is most suggestive that you have had a miscarriage. At the time you experienced the heaviest bleeding and pain is the most likely time you passed the pregnancy. The fact that your pregnancy test was still weakly positive at your last ER visit means you miscarried some time between the first and second emergency visit.

However, once you pass the pregnancy the bleeding should slow down and turn brown instead of red. If you are still bleeding red blood or it gets heavy again, you should seek emergency care again as you may still have some pregnancy tissue left inside and may need consultation with a GYN doctor for treatment.

I suggest you follow up with your original doctor for the pregnancy in a week or so to clarify how to proceed. In the meantime, do not put anything inside the vagina and be on the lookout for increased bleeding.

I hope I was able to adequately answer your question today and that my advice was helpful.

Best wishes,

Dr. Brown
