Suggest Solution And Precautions For Floaters In Eyes

Hi, I am 54 years old, 5 6 , 125 lbs, and wearing glasses -150 on both eyes for abt 15 years, I have 20/20 vision w/ glasses on. My parents are also wearing glasses, my dad 93 yrs old and just passed away quietly (no health complains when he was alive), my mom, 83 yrs old but has arthritis. Other than this, she s fine. My opthalmologist diagnosed me recently with 3 floaters on my right eye and he prescribed potassium iodide, 1 drop 3x/day to both eyes. My eyes were scanned and showed no sign of retinal detachment nor cataract. Pls advise if what are my expectations regarding my floaters with abv medication. Aslo pls advise what are the steps to take to avoid further floaters. Thank you very much.

Hello
It seems from the history that you are having floaters. Floaters are because of opacities in the vitreous and the most common cause for floaters are degenerations of the vitreous usually age related.
Hence no need to worry as the eye examination is not showing potentially dangerous causes like retinal tear. If the floaters increase suddenly in number and if there are flashes of light then you need to consult your doctor otherwise no need to worry.

Thank you
