Topical Clindamycin gel is an antibacterial and antiinflammatory. It is mainly indicated for inflammatory acne i.e red, painful and pustular acne. Apart from topical antibacterial gels, I usually suggest topical Retinoids in my patients of acne, to be used once daily at night. Topical retinoids are antiinflammatory, comedolytic and therefore prevent new acne formation apart from treating existing ones. Besides, Oral antibiotics like either Doxycycline, Azithromycin, Minocycline may also be indicated if you have inflammatory acne.
