General & Family Physician, Dr. Anuj Dan's Response
Hi, Polycystic ovary syndrome treatment generally focuses on management of your individual main concerns, such as infertility, hirsutism, acne or obesity. As such your doctor will prescribe you with medications for regulating your menstrual cycle, medications for helping you ovulate (these help you in getting pregnant) and medication for reducing excessive hair growth. There is no medication as such to dissolve the cysts, but instead there is a surgery by which the cysts can be removed, this surgery is usually done if the medication isnt enough to get you pregnant. Other than this you can make lifestyle changes such as- maintaining your weight dietary changes - reduce fat and increase carbohydrate intake and exercise
I hope this answered your question.
