Suffer From Indigestion And Bloating. Bulging Stomach. History Of Diarrhea And Constipation. Food Allergy?

Hi,
I have been having problems with bloating and digestion. It started about 2 months ago when I began visibly noticing that I was bloating. My stomach started bulging. Then shortly after I notice this I got sick, had diarrhea for a week and felt like a stomach flu. I began taking colon health pills and it helped get my bowels regular. I have had constipation problems all my life. But now, months later, the bulging and bloating is beginning again. This time I am either starving all the time even when I eat a big meal, or sometimes I eat and feel so full it's unbearable. I'm just concerned it could be food allergies or something worse? But my waist has increased a couple inches and I feel bloated and awful

Hello dear,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be due to:

1. Irritable bowel syndrome
2. Any chronic infection in the Gastrointestinal tract.
3. Increased gas production due to dietary factors or allergy to certain food products (as you are suspecting).
4. Hormonal factors like Hypothyroidism.
5. Inadequate hydration status & electrolyte imbalance in the body.
6. Stress, inadequate sleep, etc.

Though symptomatic relief can be obtained with Pantoprazole & Dicyclomine preparations, the underlying cause needs to be treated.

So, kindly consult a Gastroenterologist & get a proper clinical examination done.
Investigations like stool microscopy & culture, Ultrasound scan of abdomen & colonoscopy will be helpful.

Till then, maintain adequate hydration & take soft, non-spicy diet.

There is no need to worry...you will be fine.
Wishing you a good health & a speedy recovery
Thanks & take care
