Suffer From Cough. High ESR Levels. Using Levofloxacin. Blocked Urine. Any Suggestions?
l am girl of 15yrs. My ESR level is about 44mm. I have been suffering from deep cough.I had heard that it is due to infection i had already done mantoux test result was("2" mm induration in 48 hr) I have been using medicine called levofloxacim and also 2months ago my urine was blocked and after using medicine it was fine.what may be the reason of increasment of ESR in my blood?
ESR is normally less than 20mm at 1hour. Yours of 44 is clearly higher than the normal. It signals an ongoing inflammatory process. And having been coughing for long, being investigated for tuberculosis with mantoux test, it seems like you have some inflammatory process going on, probably in the lungs?
My suggestion is to ask your doctor about non infectious inflammatory conditions of the lungs(ex hypereosinophilic pneumonitis, interstitial pneumonia etc). if you have not been getting any better on levofloxacin for more tan 2months already. he may want to explore more to explore these options.
also, ESR is best for monitoring disease activity and not diagnosing. It only tells us something is wrong and not what. Serial values are most helpful. I don't know if you have had any previous ones.
Hope this helps and please often feel free to come back. Wish you a good health.
