Stopped Birth Control. Has Lower Back Pain. Period Is Late. Pregnancy Chances?
hello, my girlfriend stopped birth control about a month or so ago. she just got bad lower back pains and has not gotten her period in about 35 days. she stresses about being pregnant but we have been very careful checking the condoms everytime. what should we do. she is having bad back pains and worrying about the late period.
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.
You have mentioned that your girlfriend has been following contraceptive methods properly, by means of birth control pills (till a month ago) and condoms now. In this case, it is very unlikely that she is pregnant.
It is not uncommon to have irregular periods after stopping birth control pills abruptly after taking them for a long period. Delayed or irregular periods can also be due to a hormonal imbalance due to some gynecological problems like dysfunctional uterine bleeding (DUB), polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), etc.
So, if you are sure about following contraceptive methods properly, then I would advise you not to panic about the slightly delayed period. In case, her period gets further delayed or if the back pains worsen, then it would be advisable to consult a gynecologist for a detailed evaluation and further treatment.
