Spotting, Missing Periods. Had Unprotected Sex. Concerned

Hi, I'm 19 years old. About two weeks ago my period was supposed to come, and I thought it did but I've just been spotting for like two weeks straight, it's not exactly heavy, only a few times it's been, but I usually can't tell until i wipe when going to the bathroom. I don't think that I'm pregnant cause I don't have any symptoms of being so. However, my boyfriend and I did have unprotected sex about a month and a half ago. I have spotted before in the past but not for this long. Thanks for your time!

OB & GYN Specialist 's  Response
Dear user, welcome to healthcare magic.
Although remote, pregnancy is a possibility. A blood hcg test will either confirm or exclude pregnancy. If the test is positive, you should start Folic acid supplement and visit your doctor to do an ultrasound. This will confirm a healthy intrauterine pregnancy and exclude ectopic. If the test is negative, don't worry and consider what happened as a temporary disturbance.
I hope these words were useful to you.
Good luck. Dr. Ahmed Bahaa.
