Should I Consult A Doctor As My Daughter Is Having Sore Throat, Fever, Runny Nose And Dizziness?

My 9 yr old daughter has had cold symptoms (sneezing, stuffy/runny nose) for last 3 days. Today it changed to sore throat, stuffy/runny nose, fever 100.9, stomach ache, kinda dizzy when she gets up, and not wanting to eat or even take Tylenol because she thinks she will puke it up. Worried about her....should I take her to dr. Tomorrow?

Hello dear,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post suggest that your daughter is having an upper respiratory tract infection.

Tylenol being an analgesic- anti pyretic will only control the fever, not the other symptoms.

Management includes:
1. Antihistamine preparations like Allegra & Cough expectorant syrup for symptomatic relief.
2. Montelukast preparation at night as a maintenance therapy.
3. A course of antibiotics may be taken to prevent secondary bacterial attack.
4. Maintain adequate hydration & a healthy balance diet.
5. Warm salt water gargle & steam inhalation.
6. Also make sure that she is well protected from cold, dust & other allergens.

Wishing her a good health.
Take care.
