Pregnant. Black Stools, Diarrhea, Swelling In Anus. On Antibiotics For Sinus Infection. Guide
I'm very early in pregnancy. I'm about to finish up some antibiotics for a sinus infection and had started prenatal vitamins a week ago. For two weeks I was having black (very dark brown) stool. And now for the past two days I started having diarrhea. I feel like I have swelling inside my anus after all these bowel problems. What is the swelling and what is safe to use while pregnant?
Hi, Thanks for the query. The possible causes for your problem are: -Usage of iron tablets leading to discoloration of the stools. -Constipation during pregnancy leading to hemorrhoids or anal fissure. So you once consult gynecologist and get examined to find out the cause for discoloration of the stools and the nature of the swelling. Then take treatment accordingly. If needed you can go for laxatives with your doctor's advice. Taking plenty of fluids is essential.
