Pain in right sternum and gastric trouble. Reason?

What could be thiscause be. started about a month ago. pain comes and goes in sternum area right where rib cage connects. I have lots of gas after eating and some burping. No problems all day with bagel, deviled egg, fruit/flax smoothie, fiber bar and banana. Ate a chicken salad sandwich for dinner and an hour later my very upper stomach area is hurting a lot and I have quite a bit of gas again.

Gastroenterologist 's  Response
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM).

I think you are suffering from acid peptic disease. Few steps for the same:

1.Take proton pump inhibitor like rabeprazole along with a prokinetic like domperidone
2.Avoid fatty meals
3.Take small and frequent meals, instead of full meals at a time
4. wear loose clothes
5. If you are overweight or obese do weight reduction with dieting and exercise
6. Don't lie down soon after meals for at least half hour
7. See that if symptoms worsen with milk or milk products then please avoid them instead take curd

I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. Remain in touch and get-well soon.
