PCOD. Any Problem For Conceiving? Report Shows Ovaries Appear Bulky With Tiny Follicles.

Hi,

I have recently got an ultrasound done. I suffer from PCOD. I am now 29yrs old and married for the past 2 years. The report states i have Bulky ovaries with peripherally arranged follicles - suggestive of PCOD. Both ovaries appear bulky with multiple tiny follicles. Right ovary measures : 32 x 25 x 18 mm, vol - 8 cc. Left ovary measures : 32 x 29 x 25 mm, vol - 12 cc. What does this mean? And will this create problems for me to conceive.

Need to know the reasons & cures for the same

The underlying problem in PCOD is hormonal imbalances which prevent the normal maturation and release of ova from your ovaries. These ova which fails to release are seen as the follicles in your scan.

The problem with PCOD is there is excess female hormones which try to force your ovaries to release ova. And they get converted to male hormones and create the side effects.

1. The treatment of PCOD consist of inducing ovulation by ovulation inducers.
2. Treating the insulin resistance which is commonly associated with the syndrome.

Taking the proper medications will help you get conceive. Stick to your treatment plan by the gynaecologist.

Wish you good health.
