Need Medication For Pterygium In Both Eyes

hi, i have been diagnosed with pterygium in both eyes. it is very uncomfortable and tiring. the dr gave me steroid drops, prednisolone acetate, and told me to use them 2x a day for a month and also restasis for the rest of my life i bought them but have not used them because im afraid of harsh chemical treatments my experience has taught me to be wary. i would like to take a more natural approach.. im using coconut oil which is very soothing to the eyes, and also better about using sunglasses and getting enough sleep. do you have other suggestions? thank you jolene wallace

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
It seems from the history that you are diagnosed with pterygium in both the eyes.
The definitive and curative treatment of pterygium is by surgical removal.
Steroids like prednisolone are indicated only in cases of acute inflammation of pterygium.
Restasis eye drops contain cyclosporine and they are usually not required.

The treatment for pterygium is only bu follow up and if it is progressive and encroaching the cornea by surgical excision.
Hence I advice you to consult ophthalmologist for documentation and follow up and if required for surgery.

Thank you
