My Dad Has Broken His Right Thumb It Is Not Crooked But Swollen. Will It Heal By Itself Or Surgery Is Needed ?
Okay my dad was working outside and he fell. In trying to catch himself, his thumb stopped him when it slid into a board straight on. He thinks his thumb is broken right below the thumb nail. It is not crooked but is very swollen. We do not really want to spend money for x-ray and i can wrap it. Do you think it willl heal by its self or does he need surgery .

healing depend on severity of injury.
if it is minor it will heal itself and u need only splint or wrap.
but if it is major u need to consult doctor aas healing will there but it may impair thumb function for ever.
need to take antibiotic and analgesic
