MRI Shows Arthritis In Hips. Pain When Walking, Grinding Noise. Reason?

I was diagnosed with mild arthritis in both hips a year ago after an MRI . Since then my symptoms have changed considerably: My hip gives way when I walk. I start to get pain very soon when I am walking and am very restricted even when I use a walking stick. Now my hip has started making a grinding noise when if I make a slight twisting movement from a standing position. Could my hip arthritis have deteriorated so much within a year or could I have something else?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The pain on walking and the grinding noise are suggestive of a decrease in the joint lubricants and the age related degenerative changes in the hip joint as in arthritis.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
