Is There Any Risk In Postponing Cataract Surgery?

I am 54 and supposed to have a cataract done in 6 weeks. My mother is very ill and it is an emotional time. Crying is no always stiffleable and I wonder if I am at increased risk in the long term. I it will pose no problem.I will not delay, but clearly I don't want to increase the risk of complication. Is there a reason to delay?

Hello
Welcome to Health care magic

I reviewed your history. There is generally no harm in postponing the cataract surgery. However if the cataract is hypermature it needs to be operated to prevent development of lens induced glaucoma.
Hence I advice you to consult your eye doctor for examination of stage of the cataract and if it is still in immature stage then you can postpone the cataract surgery.

Thank you

Hello
Welcome to health care magic.

I reviewed your history.
Cataract surgery is done as an elective surgery and there is no harm in postooning it.
If the cataract is mature then it needs to be operated to prevent complications like lens induced glaucoma or lens induced uveitis.
Hence consult your ophthalmologist for examination to find out the stage of cataract.

Thank you
