Is There A Risk Of Stroke If Having Headaches And High Blood Pressure?

I have been having headaches lately and have been taking advil for them. I was told that NSAIDS will cause your blood pressure to be high. I have not taken anything all day and I checked my blood pressure and it was 138 over 110 the first time and 145 over 98 the second time. I take it manually so I am sure there is room for error. My question is that is this considered high? Should I schedule an appointment asap with my doctor. My wife is afraid that I am going to have a stroke. I am a little concerned too.

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

Yes,you have hypertension, but it should be confirmed by further reading of blood pressure at least three to four different occasions.Reading 140/90 mm Hg and above is considered as hypertension.
It it is persistently raised then you need antihypertensives.
You should take restricted amount of salt and increase your physical activity in the form of walking, exercise.
You also need few more investigation like routine hemogram,RBS,LFT,RFT,Lipid profile,Chest X-ray (PA view),ECG in all leads,Ultrasound of abdomen.
You should consult your physician.
Hope i have answered your query.
