Is It Normal To Have Heavy Bleeding With Abdominal Pain After A Implanon Contraceptive?

I have had the implanon contraceptive implant for 2 and a half years with no bleeding other than the first month and have now suddenly started again. I am now on the second day of relatively heavy bleeding and had abdominal pains yesterday morning. Is this normal?

Hello,

The first thing that is required for this condition is a ultrasound examination of whole abdomen to rule out if the implanon is at correct position or not , heavy bleeding can occur if implanon is misplaced.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. SUJOY S BHATTACHARJEE
