Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Invega Suitable To Treat Depression And Can It Be Used Along With Mirtazapine, Clonazepam And Venlafaxine?
I have been diagnosed with depression and anxiety. I was prescribed Mirtazapine (30 mg) / Clonazepam (.5 mg) / Venlafaxine (150 mg). This combination worked for a few months and then I suffered a set back. My psychiatrist prescribed Invega (3 mg) today. I'm concerned about the invega. Is it used to treat depression and how will it work with my other meds?
Invega contains paliperidone which is an anti-psychotic. It can be used to treat psychotic symptoms in depression or to augment the action of the anti-depressants being used. It can be used with the other medicines that you are taking. In your case, had you been under my care, I would have preferred to increase your dose of Venlafaxine to overcome the breakthrough symptoms.
Hope you get well soon. Best wishes.
