Is CT Scan Required For Sleep Disorders?

good morning madam/sir

my query is about sleep disorders

my sister is suffering from this disease. age-27

presently mr. jadia katra allahabad (pshycratist) has written some medicine--this medicine is helpful only for sometime,when she takes medicine then only she can sleep.

can you suggest me any neurologist in allahabad u.p. area.



and please tell me whethere CT SCAN is required.

Thank you for your question on HCM!
Regarding your concern I would say that sleep disorders do not need brain CT scan if there are no other symptoms besides insomnia. Electrophysiological studies are more helpful in sleep disorders like polysomnography, but they are more helpful in disorders ocuring during sleeping time and not insomnia. An oxygen monitor for blood saturation would be helpful to diagnose possible low oxygen saturation , which can cause insomnia.
Regarding the treatment benzodiazepines are very helpful, but short acting and for not more than 1 month , because they cause tolerance and addiction.
I would recommend to start Melatonine, which does not have the above side effects and helps regulate the physiological sleeping time.
