How To Treat Broken Fibula?

My fibula is broken near the knee (have X-ray ) also broke the tibia and the surgeon didn t repair the fibula but hammered a rod to fix the tibia and said it will heal on its own. However if you see the X-ray there is no way the bone will heal with 5mm distance and the angle it is on. It has has been 9 weeks now and have followed all regulations 7weeks in bed. Do not understand why they didn t fix the fibula???

Hi
Thanks for posting
After going through your query, you have to understand that -
Fibula bone unites in nearly every case without doing any active measure even if the bone is broken like yours. It is the tibia, the major weight bearing is of concern and nonunion is quite common with it.So,have faith in your treating doctor.
Hope this helps
