My 78yo mother has been complaining of "foggy" headache across temples. She continues to have spiked increase in body temp. Tonight 102 she is out of sorts during spikes. We were able to bring it down by cool bathe. Urine test showing a lot of abnormal white blood cells in urine. Referred to urologist. Any idea what could be going on this has persisted a week. Should we take her to ER instead?

Pathologist and Microbiologist, Dr. Siddartha's Response
Hello,
Presence of high-grade fever and plenty of pus cells (white blood cells) in the urine indicates that your mother has urinary tract infection. Send the urine for culture and sensitivity test and based on the antibiotic sensitive report, use that antibiotic accordingly. My suggestion, please consult a general physician for further management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Siddartha
