How To Treat UTI During Pregnancy?

I am 30 years old, 5 months pregnant, around 115 lbs, excellent health in general...I just found out I have a urinary tract infection and have been on macrobid for 3 days, started feeling better, however, today my urinary tract is burning more than ever...is it that the medication is maybe not working...(baby has been checked and is fine)....but I am very uncomfortable with burning pains.

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Urinary tract infection is one of the common complaints seen in pregnancy.
Usually antibiotics will help in curing the problem.
If the symptoms persist even after taking antibiotics, following measures can help:
-Urine culture and sensitivity to find out the causative organism and it's sensitivity to drugs.
-Taking plenty of water, if needed you can go for intravenous fluids with your doctor's advice.
-Voiding urine in every 2 to 3 hours. Avoiding prolonged retention of urine.
