How To Cure Truncal Obesity?

I am a Paediatrician - Male,58 yrs old, 5'7"tall. I have Hypopituitarism, consequent to radiation-treatment of hemangioma in the sellar region. I am on 100mcg Throxine, Long acting Testosterone - once in 12 weeks, prednisolone - 5 mg morning and 2.5 mg at 5 pm. I also take Losartan for mild hypertension, oral Vit D once a month, calcium supplement. I am a fitness freak, and do some running, swimming, hiking when possible. I have developed truncal obesity. Will diet and exercise get rid of this? Do I reduce dose of prednisolone?

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

Truncal obesity is typical of Cushing's syndrome. I will recommend that you contact your endocrinologist to review your treatment and make sure that you are not being over medicated with the steroids. Exercise and diet would help but identifying the cause which is probably the steroids in your case and addressing would be even more helpful.

I hope this helps. I wish you well.
