Dear Sir, Welcome to HCM, After going through your query i understood that you take metformin 1000mg B.D and now having a slightly elevated fasting levels. let me explain the concept before i tell you the options. You first need to do something about the timing of your dinner. Generally we, diabetologists believe that once patient has a proper diet and exercise plan 50% of treatment is done. So if you are going to take late dinner and then have metformin it might start working late resulting in a higher fasting value. please check your PPBS and see if it is The other options you have are 1. As metformin can be taken before or after food you can take your night dose of metformin by 9P.M (Some people may experience gastritis) 2. You can add a small dose of voglibose along with your dinner to reduce fasting values. You may please check FBS,PPBS and HbA1c to determine the accurateness of the dosage. Hope i have answered your query. Dr.Riyaz Sheriff
