Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I recently switched from Cardizem CD (300) to Lisinopril 40 MG due to my insurance company raising the rate for prescription 400% This was done by my doctor after I told him about the increase. Inhave been having BP readings in the n150/104 range consistently for two weeks. Is there a significant change in the two types of medication to cause this? My readings on Cardizem were usually in the 130/80 range.
Actually it is a little bit risky to switch abruptly from Cardizem to Lisinopril. The main side effect can be sudden increase in heart rate abd arrhythmias. Of course increase in blood pressure also can occur. As they are different they can act differently in individual patients despite the fact that both are given in high doses. If you didn't have palpitations you may wait another week, if your blood pressure remains high, I would advise you to see your doctor to revise your treatment
Hope I could help you
Wishing you good health
