How Much Longer Should I Expect Dislocated Sternum To Be Painful ?

I was in a car accident nearly 5 months ago and dislocated my sternum! I was sent to a specialist who saw my xrays and told me it would probably take 8 weeks to heal! problem is its still really painful and it also has affected my back, neck and shoulders! I have had a constant cough which probably makes matters worst but would like to know how much longer should i expect it to be painful ?
