How Many Times Should Clindamycin Be Taken In A Day?

My doctor just prescribed me clindamycin 300mg capsule and i am directed to take one capsule 4 times a day and i took one at 3:45 when i got it filled. Then 6:45, 9:45, and 12:45 but then i was reading online about it and it said take one every 6 hours. Am i at risk of an overdose?

Hi,

Clindamycin belongs to the group of antibiotic medications that is known as Lincosamide antibiotic is used in the treatment of various bacterial Infections like skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, middle ear infections, sore throat, pneumonia, pelvic inflammatory disease, endocarditis and many more. Usually for serious infection, 150-300 mg orally every six hours is recommended. Again, 300-450 mg orally every 6 hours for more severe Infections is recommended. So, it is advisable to take Clindamycin 6 hours apart from another dose of Clindamycin. Six hours difference between two doses of Clindamycin should be maintained to avoid overdose or other unwanted hazards.
