Is It Safe To Put Clindamycin In Astringent For Treatment Of Pimples?

hi doc.. im 22 yrs old and im suffering from pimples, white & black heads. im having regular facial cleaning (every 2-3weeks), and use toner, acne astringent and tretinoin regularly. it seems that my treatment hasn t stabilize my face yet. ive been on that treatment for 5-6 months already. i wonder if it s okay to put some clindamycin in my astringent and if i should continue using tretinoin, since ive also read that using antiseptics for too long can lead to yeast infections? thank you... btw, i have irregular sleeping habits too.

Hi,

Usually it takes 6 months for the skin to start clearing up. In case of resistant acne persisting for more than months after you have started your treatment tone can begin topical or oral antibiotic (only one of these should be used either oral or topical). Continue your regime for now and add benzyl peroxide soap to your regime. Continued amounts of stress can also cause acne so should try to improve your sleeping habits. If you see no change in your acne after 4 more weeks, visit your doctor and ask her to add topical or an oral antibiotic to your regime.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
