How Long Should Primolut Be Taken?

Hi, I am aneamic and have been prescripted with Primolut and have been given the rod (Implanon) in order to ensure I suppress my period completely for the next few weeks until my iron levels stabilises. As I can not loose more blood than my body can take. But once I stop taking primolut, but my period persists. Should I take it for a longer amount of time or should I find another kind of suppressant?

You do not speak about the Oral Iron therapy (+ maybe Vitamin C to improve Iron absorption)you might have bee prescibed. You do not mention your Haemoglobin or Iron levels.Since Implanon is not supressing your periods completely or at least bringing down the bleeding to levels, less than your body can produce, you do need some additional hormone treatment. Primolut is one coice, but a combined ( Oestrogen + Progesterone) pill may be a better choice. Please consult your Gynaecologist & Haematologist.You also need to rule out Bleeding Disoders and look at other causes of Uterine bleeding.
