Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I recently fell and broke my fibula...last appt with podiatrist, she said it shifted. I believe she will confer with ortho. MD..I go back next week... What are the chances I m looking at a surgery, how long is the down time either way.. And should I have an orthopedic doctor rather than podiatrist handle it? Thank you
If the broken fibula fragments are not displaced and you are otherwise healthy then it should heal in 6-8 weeks. In case surgical fixation is done then you can walk earlier also.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Praveen Tayal, Orthopaedic Surgeon
