How Did Fluid Came In His Lungs After Paracentesis?

Hi-My husband had HepC,Liver CAncer and Cirrhosis and Acites and had paracentesis to check for infection and 12 hours after the paracentesis couldn't breathe and fluid built up in his lungs and peritonitis and sepsis resulted in his death. How did fluid result in his lungs after paracentesis? Thank you.

I can understand your concern.
Your husband was having end stage liver diseases like cirrhosis, liver cancer, chronic Hepatitis C infection etc.
And all these conditions cause liver failure.
Liver is the main organ which produce protein and hemoglobin.
So in liver failure, synthesis of protein and hemoglobin are reduced.
This can cause fluid collection in the body.
This fluid is transudative in nature and most commonly accumulate in abdomen (ascites) and lungs (pleural effusion).
This fluid accumulation is continuous and recurrent. So even if you aspirated or remove the fluid, it will refill because his liver is damaged and not functioning properly.
