Hello,

Your fiancé can develop withdrawal symptoms if he stops taking it immediately rather than tapering. He is advised to get visit ER and get clinically examined. If need be, he will be admitted in the hospital or recommended to join a detox center where his withdrawal symptoms will be urgently cared for.

He will be given symptomatic treatment & will be cared for while remaining comfortable. He should not stay at home because some symptoms cannot be managed at home. Help him stay well hydrated during this time. He should not miss meals either.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
