History Of Appendix Removal. Swelling Near Scar, Stomach Pain. Need To Worry?

I had my appendix out just under four years ago. It was an open appendectomy followed by a serious infection where the surgeon considered a second surgery, but that was ultimately decided against. I noticed tonight some puffy swelling around part of the scar that was forced to stay open with a wic for about a week and 1/2. It s painless. I ve had some stomach pains over the past few days, but I m also expecting my period any day, so those could have just been cramps. Should I be worried about this swelling? I don t think I ve seen it before.

Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day
You seem to have developed Superficial surgical site infection which is being conservatively managed by open drainage. There is no cause of concern if there is no fever and if you are eating well.
