Hearing Loss In Right Ear, Ringing In Ear. Tried Counter Remedies. What Else Could Be This?

About a week ago my right ear has had some hearing loss. I can hear a little but it all sounds muffled like I have an earplug in my ear. I have tried to clean it with over the counter remedies for earwax blockages but it hasn't improved anything. I also have a ringing in my ear a lot of the time. What else could this be?

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding sudden loss of hearing along with muffled voice, you have tried local cleaning etc but got no relief.

Since your hearing muffled voice this indicates that either your eustachian tube is blocked or there is fluid in middle ear. Both these conditions are the complications of upper respiratory tract infection.

You may take-

1- Steam inhalation.

2- Anti histamine.

3- Decongestant.

4- Antibiotic (preferably broad spectrum).

I hope above treatment will give you much relief, however if you feel any problem than consultation with an ENT doctor will become necessary.

Regards.
